NOMS Student wins first place in design contest
Each year the Adams County Conservation District sponsors a T-shirt design contest for the annual Envirothon competition.
The contest is open to students in grades 7 – 12 in Adams County. Ninety-seven entries were received and Bryley Kuhn won first place. Bryley is an eighth grade student in Mr. Harned’s Earth Science class, and the recipient of a cash prize, a certificate, and a T-shirt which features her design.
Help our PTO raise funds for field trips, technology, and other programs
With budget cuts, it’s necessary more than ever for the PTO to raise money for our children and the school. We need to raise enough to afford us the opportunity to continue to supply the items necessary for our children’s programming like field trips, technology, library support, 8th grade promotion.
Our 16-17 goal is to raise $15,000. This school year, NOMS has approximately 600 students enrolled and if each family contributes a $25 tax deductible gift we can reach our goal. However, any amount you feel comfortable giving toward that effort will be greatly appreciated. Unlike other fundraisers, 100% of your donation will go directly to supporting your children. The NOMS PTO is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization so all gifts are tax deductible.
Cyber Harassment of a Child
On July 10, 2015, Governor Wolf signed Act 26 of 2015 into law, resulting in the creation of a new crime: Cyber Harassment of a Child (18 PA.C.S. §2709 (a.1)).
Cyber harassment of a child is committed when another person repeatedly contacts a child through electronic means (such as through text messages, instant messages or through social media services) with the intent to harass, annoy or alarm the child and makes seriously harmful comments about the child or threatens to harm the child.
It is important for students and parents to realize that cyberbullying behaviors can now be criminally charged as a misdemeanor offense under this new law.
Parents should discuss household rules about online activity with their children, and remind them not to engage in mean, harmful messages about or to others.
