Escape Room!
Mrs. Rinehart and Mrs. Peterman engaged their students in a physical escape room instead of a digital one because our students had already completed 2 digital ones this year. The physical escape room activity added a different type of challenge and got them moving while they were learning. The students had to analyze the poems and find the missing poets and match them with their poetry- through the imagery, figurative language, rhyme scheme and patterns.
Field Trip to Mexico, Cuba and South America Without Leaving the ClassroomSophomores in Mr. Kraus’ World Cultures class take a Virtual Reality field trip to Mexico, Cuba, and South America on their iPads through NearPod in Schoology as part of their geography requirement in Unit V. “The Americas”. Students documented observations and created questions before moving into the physical and political maps Book TastingMrs. Behegan's students were very eager to participate in a book "tasting" in their room which was transformed into a fine dining cafe and the students were able to experience new books and genres! Operation TurkeyThe students at New Oxford Elementary practice goal setting, teamwork and giving to those in need. Operation Turkey gives back to the community. Learning to Stay Fit in a Fun Way!Mrs. Jess O'Brien, a CTE parent, and physical education teacher at Spring Grove Area School District and Zumba instructor, came in on her day off to teach kindergarten students about Zumba and the importance of exercise. She led the students in a variety of aerobic dances. Fun was had by all. Thank you Hanover Bowling Center!Hanover Bowling Center provided students at NOE with bowling equipment. The students were able to participate in a bowling unit during the month of November. The students had a blast learning how to bowl. Students Learn from Local BusinessThe Housing & Interior Design class enjoyed a visit to Sleighter’s Furniture. After learning about various types of furniture and quality construction techniques the class was able to see pieces first-hand. Special thanks to Jerry for taking time out of his schedule to show us around. Color wheel creation!Students in Mrs. Johnston Housing and Interior Design class learned about design and the color wheel by creating a color wheel with icing and vanilla wafers. Students Learn Science with ModelingBrian Fett's class engaged in a Human Seasons Diagram where students were modeling the four seasons. |
