Assistant Superintendent

Dr. Brad Sterner


An alumnus of Penn State University, Dr. Sterner earned his undergraduate degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Development, along with his master's in Teaching and Curriculum. Dr. Sterner completed a doctoral program from Immaculata University in the area of Educational Leadership, where his research centered around the structure and content of teacher selection interviews.

Dr. Sterner’s teaching career began in 2000 at the primary and elementary levels for Lower Dauphin School District in Dauphin county. He first moved into administration at the Elizabethtown Area School District in Lancaster county as both an elementary and middle school principal. He then served as a middle school principal for the West York Area School District in York county. It was a personal goal of Dr. Sterner’s to gain a range of leadership experiences from rural, suburban, and urban school districts.

Dr. Sterner most recently served as Director of Educational Services for the Lincoln Intermediate Unit in New Oxford, Pennsylvania. In this role, he supported the 25 public school districts across Adams, Franklin, and York Counties - a geographic footprint as large as the state of Delaware. His main focus was executive coaching for superintendents, assistant superintendents, and principals. 

Dr. Sterner has been named a school improvement facilitator throughout statewide work overseen by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, on which he has been asked to speak directly to Pennsylvania’s Secretary of Education and his executive leadership team. Through school improvement work, he has led schools to recognize and remove barriers to student learning.

Dr. Sterner currently resides in Hanover with his wife and fellow educator, Alicia, and their 17 year-old daughter Addison.  He is constantly inspired by the continuous love and support they give him throughout his educational leadership journey.
