Wayback Machine
Another great way to use this tool is if you are thinking about using a site and want to know if it is from a reputable source you can go back through the history of the site and see who created it and when. You can look at how the site may have evolved from it's initial publishing to the most recent version. A site that comes to mind that I have researched was one about Martin Luther King. The current site looked reputable and a student could have mistaken it for valid, but there was much misinformation about Dr. King on it. In researching the site I found that it was created by a member of the KKK and the original version of the site was all about misinformation and hatred. Click here to try the Wayback Machine. It's easy to use. You just go to the Wayback Machine site and type in the name of the site or the URL for which you want to search.
