It's Coming! Hour of Code 2018
Hour of Code is coming! This year December 3rd through the 9th will be the annual Hour of Code kickoff week. This year the theme will be creativity. Click here to see some of the activities that are currently available. There are activities designed for pre-readers all the way to high school age students. The site is even more user friendly as there is now a filter allowing for the selection of activities for beginners as well as for students who are comfortable with hour of code. Please consider taking a moment to introduce your students to Hour of Code. If you would like an extra set of hands for this activity, give me a call (x 1007) or send me an email and we can set up a time to get your students into a lab. Hour of Code is engaging. It gives students the opportunity to be creative and explore a possible interest in design and programming.

Professional Reading: Eric Sheninger - 8 Keys for Transforming School Design![]()
I am sharing a quick read that gives an overview of the 8 Keys for Transforming School Design. Click here to go to the article. These 8 keys are also found within the book, Learning Transformed: 8 Keys to Designing Tomorrow's Schools, Today, by Eric Sheninger and Thomas Murray. One-size does not fit all in today's schools. These authors, through much research, have pulled together the data in a way that is easy to read and understand. Every educator counts as we continue to transform our schools and our district into a place that prepares students for the world they will face once they graduate. If you want to delve deeper into the 8 keys after reading this overview check out the book which is available on both the Amazon and the ASCD sites.
